Bandwagon ahoy!

Disrespectful exploitation by the opposition leader

I'm not going to comment too much on this one. There's a great article on the Times website which says more than I possibly could. Personally my favourite part is the part that the Tories would struggle to comprehend:

"There has never been a time when our society has been richer, lived longer, been more tolerant, guaranteed women greater opportunities, cared better for the sick and disabled or done more to provide education for all."

I hope I can find a million people who can see through this crap...

This is the sort of uneducated rubbish I would expect from Conservative supporters

So let's address those points one by one:

1. "The Labour Party has been in power for around thirteen years and has become complacent and reactionary. The imput of new blood into the government would bring fresh ideas as well as bring the Labour government to account for its failures. An example of a fantastic Conservative idea is the suggestion to allow the public to table bills in Parliament, if backed by one million petition signatories."

Is this really the best you can do? Any change in power would bring fresh ideas. Doesn't mean they're good. I'll give kudos to the one million signatories idea, but would I trust the Tories to go through with it? No chance.

2. "The economic stimulus it seems was very necessary in order to prevent total economic collapse. However, now that the danger has receded, a Conservative government is needed in these austere times to really sort out the state's finances."

Google Black Wednesday. I'll say no more.

3. "According to our opponents David Cameron's descent from aristocracy is a bad thing. Of course, this is just prejudice and should be completely abhorrent to all rational people."

The same way Gordon Brown is attacked for being Scottish or visually impaired? What's good for the goose...

4. "David is a fan of The Smiths. Need I say more?"

You're a poncy little rich kid with no grasp on reality, aren't you? I bet you're a student and you think this comment is oh-so-kitsch.

5. "He projects a confident image and is an excellent communicator. This is in stark contrast to our current Prime Minister, who struggles to get his message across and is often socially awkward."

Cameron is a PR guru. Do you trust every smartly-dressed salesman who calls at your door? Do you look down on anyone who is not dressed in suit and tie? Actually, I'm guessing you probably do...

6. "Just look at the reasons put forward on our opposing group's page. Mostly slanderous hate-mongering and prejudice. This is in itself a reason to support Mr Cameron."

Translation: "Look at us, we're much better than them." Yep, a pretty standard Tory standpoint.

7. "He has had the best education available in the world, attending Eton and then Oxford University where he achieved 1st class honours in Philosophy, Politics & Economics...surely as appropriate subjects as there can be for a potential Prime Minister. While some may sneer at this 'privileged' background, that is simply inverted snobbery and should be considered as ridiculous as looking down on anyone simply because of their background rather than what they have to offer."

More unsubstantiated  nonsense.  If the education was so important, why did this not help Cameron in his role as chief advisor to Norman Lamont in 1993? As with any career - you can learn as much as you like academically, putting it in to practice, however...

8. "By voting for Cameron/Tories, you not only get David Cameron [obviously] but a heavy weight cabinet behind him : Ken Clarke, William Hague, Liam Fox, George Osborne, Michael Gove, Chris Grayling, Oliver Letwin, Francis Maude, Theresa May, Sayeeda Warsi and David Willetts to name a few! Take a look for yourselves at the embarassment that is the only realistic alternative : http://www.labour.org.uk/cabinet"

Sorry? You appear not to have completed your point there. What was the term you used earlier? "Mostly slanderous hate-mongering and prejudice"?

9. "Labour's HUGE spending increases (funded by increased taxes) have been used so inefficiently the gap between rich and poor in the UK is the widest since records began despite Labour claiming to look out for the poorer members of society."

Well, we can only imagine how much worse it would be under a Conservative government...

I'll let you finish the rest of the "arguments" off for yourselves. I can only hope that people don't buy in to this shit. I mean, just look at the way the group is written and the language used - you can immediately tell who the target audience is, and you can almost feel them looking down upon us...

Frank Turner says it better than I ever could...

Just a subtle reminder of what Mr Cameron's hero was all about:

Caught on camera - Conservatives remove people from social housing in Hammersmith and Fulham

A lovely secret video here, with Tory councillor Stephen Greenhalgh squirming under fire while trying to deny his intentions.

Dear Mr Cameron - who's going to pay for this then?

Clearly public schooling isn't what it used to.

Someone needs to learn to do their sums

Anyone got a spare £34bn lying around?

Charges for no-shows at the dentist - another great Tory policy

Let's squeeze some more cash out of those who can't afford it...

Another typical badly thought-out Tory plan. This crap doesn't surprise me any more...

Labour vs Conservatives - the YouTube wars

First of all, I'm not claiming to support Labour here. My primary concern is that the Conservatives don't regain power. That said, take a look at the two videos below. I think both are a fair representation of the parties they represent. We'll start with the Conservatives:

Yes - a draining self-indulgent wankfest at nearly 9 minutes long and without really saying anything of interest. Even the choice of font is alienating. Methinks the Conservatives' PR team need to look up "accessibility" in their equality and diversity training handbooks.

So let's have a look at Labour's effort:

Short, relevant, accessible, energetic, uplifting... everything that the Conservative video is not.
A HUGE win for Labour in my books.

The following is a also very good article from the LibDems website.

Nick Clegg's New Year Message

Let's make the right choices this year.

Let's not forget those poor MPs living on rations...

This story still makes me sick every time I read it.

Poor Tory MP

How ever will he look after his family?

Leading Tory councillor slams shadow Cabinet ‘inexperience’

Attacked by one's own - how embarrassing

"Politicians with lower expenses tend to be the politicians who do the least work."

Like I need to explain anything about this Tory fool's comments

Truancy more prevalent in deprived areas shocker!

Again, directly from the Conservative Party website, proof at how disconnected they are from the real world.

Persistent truancy concentrated in deprived areas

No way! You mean - surely not - that people from deprived areas are more likely to play truant? OH MY FUCKING GOD! Why did no one tell us this before? Quick, let's arrest all the parents and give them a good, stern talking to. Or maybe stop just their cake and send them to their rooms.

Note to Conservatives: If you plan to write about the problems this country faces, it would be a good idea to suggest a solution too.

Sceptical, heartless attitude in abundance

Direct from the Conservatives' own website:

One million have died or retired on Incapacity Benefit

You have to love the scepticism in this article. Very subtle, you heartless twats. There's are some dangerous underlying assumptions here that:

a) These people are capable of working
b) These people don't want to work

If this party had any exposure to the sorts of people who are claiming incapacity benefit, they would no doubt feel differently. It's a typical Conservative beating stick - "Oh look, all you people are working hard and yet these people are just sitting at home living the life of riley courtesy of your taxes." It's piss-poor and it's grossly unfair.
